At least my knee doesn't hurt.

So it's 4:30 in the morning and I just got home from work. Working overnights in
a warehouse leaves just about everything aching after 12 hours. My knee, just about
one year after ACL reconstruction, is about the only thing that doesn't so I'll take it.

Got to watch another Cubs game before I left for work, and had only a Lou Piniella tirade
to cheer for. And he was arguing a very good call by the ump. I really wish I could have seen
Zambrano and Barrett go to fisticuffs the other day as this team has very little life in it.

Would it be completely foolish to say I still think we have a shot at the Central? Probably.

Texting of woe

So I receive a text message from my buddy Vince telling me to flip on
the Cubs game a keep my eye out for him seated 5 rows behind home
plate. It pains me threefold because:

1) We do not get Comcast sports Chicago in Terre Haute (well you can
on Dish Planet, but as my wife works for Time Warner Cable and
one of their perks is free cable and internet we won't be going dish)
so I cannot tune to the game.

2) I have never had that good of a seat at a Cubs game, nor will I make it
to more than one this year after averaging about 10 the last few years,

3) As this message comes in the Cubs are being shutout at home by
Byung-Hyung Kim and a mediocre but young Marlins team in the bottom
of the 6th en route to another loss. At least this wasn't a bullpen loss.

At least the Brewers are snapping back to reality and this division seems winnable.

On a positive note we are house hunting and the homes we are interested in are running
around $60-$70K. Don't worry, they job market pays accordingly.

Let's go see if there's any good news coming from abroad....

Duff

Adios Chicago

Well after 30 years I have finally made it out of Chicago. Not like I was dying to get away, but a change of pace was definitely in order. My wife and I moved to Terre Haute to be closer to her family and it it's pretty much the tip of the South as there is a lot of people that talk with southern drawl. Anyone who is unfamiliar with Terre Haute, IN.. it's 45 miles east and another 45 miles south of Champaign. Have a pretty lame job right now, just something to pay the bills until I can re-establish myself in the area. Not that I was that established back home mind you. Oh and my Spanish (which was beginning to become a great resume addition) is now completely useless.

We do get WGN down here, so I can watch slightly less than half of all televised Cubs games that aren't aired on nights I work. Apparently $180M+ in off-season spending still nets a sub .500 record, but I have a feeling that this team can't be held down long, especially not if journeymen Jason Marquis and Ted Lilly pitch like they have all season.
